I had to chose an object and then use it’s pieces or draw it multiple times to create the different types of symmetry. The far left is an example of asymmetry, the middle is an example of radial symmetry, and the far right is an example of bilateral symmetry. I loved this project because I think it shows that I have an eye for design and making the most of positive and negative space. The biggest take away from this assignment, however, has nothing to do with the actual art itself. This was one of my favorite pieces and unfortunately I lost the original copy before properly documenting it. Luckily I was able to use Photoshop to manipulate one zoomed out, crocked photo, buried deep in my camera roll. When I look back at this piece from my first semester at UT, I am reminded of the importance of properly documenting my work.

TITLE: Dream Catcher Calligram
MEDIA: Digital Graphic
SOFTWARE: Adobe Illustrator
SPECIFICATIONS: 1200 px X 1062 px, RGB, 72DPI
CLASS: ART 210 Beginning Digital Arts
PROFESSOR: Brian Tortorelli
SEMESTER / TERM: Spring 2015
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
LINK: N/A

This Dream Catcher Calligram was created in Adobe Illustrator. The assignment was to create a Calligram, which is a visual image or design made up of a word or words that represent the image itself. My dream catcher is made up of things people tend to have nightmares about. The belief is that the dream catcher has caught all of the bad dreams. The feathers of the dream catcher are longer, story-like nightmares instead of words. I created the dream catcher using simple gradients and envelope distorts. The dream catcher design itself is based off of a drawing I originally created in ART 204 Beginning Design in the previous semester (See above). Although this piece is one of the first digital pieces I ever created, it also happens to be one of my very favorites.

TITLE: Sports Illustration
MEDIA: Digital Illustration
SOFTWARE: Adobe Photoshop
SPECIFICATIONS: 1100 px X 800 px, RGB, 72DPI
CLASS: ART 207 Beginning Digital Illustration
PROFESSOR: Douglas Sutherland
SEMESTER / TERM: Fall 2015
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
LINK: N/A

I created this digitally illustrated image using Adobe Photoshop. I started with a regular image and then sampled the color values from the original image and painted over the original image using on a new layer. I made the layer I was working on slightly transparent so I could see where to paint with values. Overall I don’t feel like my finished pieces was extremely successful, but I think being able to digitally illustrate is an important skill to have. Although I wasn’t particularly satisfied with the piece as a whole, I think I did a good job using value to create highlights and shadows. I also really enjoyed working on this piece because the image I worked from is a picture of my friend and I doing aerial silks. Aerial silks is my passion, and art pieces that incorporate my personal passions are always some of the most exciting to work on no matter the outcome.

TITLE: Unstrained Brain
MEDIA: Logo
SOFTWARE: Adobe Illustrator
SPECIFICATIONS: 1000 px X 225 px, RGB, 72DPI
CLASS: ART 311 Online Production
PROFESSOR: Jared Lantzman
SEMESTER / TERM: Spring 2017
INSTITUTION: The University of Tampa
LINK: N/A

I created this logo for a mock, non-profit website that I created using Dreamweaver. The objective of the non-profit website was to provide resources for people who suffer from anxiety. I think it’s important to show all the different logo ideas I started with and the evolution of the drawing I chose to turn into the final logo. I think the biggest challenge with this piece was the shear size. 6 ft X 8 ft is a large area to cover, and it was very difficult to keep the whole piece in proportion at such a large scale. I put a grid on top of the image I was working from and then put a grid of the same proportions on the linoleum. I worked methodically; sketching each box of the grid individually. I enjoyed the process of creating different values under the charcoal using a paint washing technique, but I also found it extremely difficult to create a smooth transition between the wash value without strokes. I’m not particularly refined in my painting abilities, so overall this assignment was extremely challenging but I’m happy with the outcome.

TITLE: Dream CatcherMEDIA: Pencil Drawing on PaperSOFTWARE: N/ASPECIFICATIONS: 5 in X 14 in CLASS: ART 204 Beginning DesignPROFESSOR: UnknownSEMESTER / TERM: Fall 2014INSTITUTION:… Read more 2D

["post-52","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
