This Image Manipulation project was created by using a tripod and taking a burst of photos on a timer. By using a tripod the background remains constant and only the person moving (myself) changes.  The next step was to import the images into Photoshop. I used selection tools to select myself in each photo with a feathered edge and brought each version of myself into one of the photos. I aligned each image of myself into it’s original position so that it meshed seamlessly with the background. If I had used every photo the images would have been overlapping, so I had to pick and choose one photo of me at various stages of the drop. I tried to pick images that were evenly spaced. I loved the result so much, I incorporated it into my resume!

I started with the damaged photograph on the left.  Using the the blemish brush and clone stamp tool in Photoshop I slowly pieced together the image on the right. I started by repairing the cracks in the photo and then I used the newly non cracked chunks and the clone stamp tool to fill in the missing edges. The most successful part of this image manipulation, in my opinion, is the little girl’s shoe. I recreated the tip of it from nothing. One thing I could improve upon in the future is making sure that when I fix things I don’t lose or forget about the shadows.

The goal of this project was to shoot portrait photography. I happened to have some black lights, so I decided do portraits that were a little more unique and challenging. I ordered glow paint and invited a few of my friends to a photo shoot in my room. I painted their faces and upper bodies. I lit the room lightly with black light and then placed a stronger black light near the front or side of their face depending on the desired look. It was tough to get the camera to focus with the lighting conditions, but I worked though it. I was very pleased with the outcome and had a lot of fun with the process. My friends and I had so much fun that after the assignment was over we did another photo session. Some of the photos from above are from the second session. There was certainly a learning curve to glow photography, but I feel the end result is stunning!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This assignment was to practice aperture and shutter speed to capture motion in a still image. I used a quick shutter speed with a medium aperture to capture water in motion (Image 1 & 2). Because the shutter speed was so quick, I needed to let in more light. To capturing light in motion at night, I used a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed that allowed more light to get into the camera for a longer period of time (Image 3 & 4).
