4/30/19 | 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Motion Graphic Done!
So, I finally finished all of the motion graphics I plan on putting in the film. The third one, (which was the second ’30-second’ one) took a good 15+ hours, but it was totally worth it. I am very happy with these and I learned a shit ton along the way!
4/04/19 | Started Rough Cutting
Even though I’m not done filming, I decided, to go ahead and start to put together a rough cut edit of about the first 7 minutes. With still only being on the second page of a seven page script at this point I think this will be a little longer than anticipated, but we’ll see.
I knew that, when first going into premiere, that I would have to stay organized and that’s what I have been doing (to the best of my ability).
Probably the hardest part so far has been taking soundbytes out of the interviews. Some of them are over an hour long and I didn’t mark them, so I’ve had to painfully sit through hours of footage to get 10 seconds. But hey, that’s just the process. It’s honestly worth it after you do it for so long.
I decided to also go ahead and render the first 7 minutes to act as a progress report. Keep in mind, it’s a rough edit for a reason. Anyway, here it is:
4/04/19 | Post Production starts with Motion Graphics
So, I am just starting to get into the post production phase of the doc process. I am far from done with the filming, but there is some stuff I can do regarding this. One of these things, is motion graphics.
I knew from pretty early on, that I wanted to have motion graphic animations in the doc to provide more of a visual appeal. And since it’s one of the only things in the film process that I’m pretty good, I thought I would showcase it. Ultimately, I plan on creating four: two 30 second ones, and two 5-10 second ones. I just finished one that describes the gentrification process.
