My name is Joshua Garcia,

I am the first born son of Ms. Sasha Delgado, and Mr. Raul Garcia, delivered on January 16th, 1996 in Tampa, Florida. I was raised in Tampa entirely by my mother, as my father had to return to Mexico by law. I have only ever seen my father twice in my life: once on the day of my birth, and the second on my first birthday.

My family has had its fair share of struggles. My mother, an immigrant from Cuba, spoke no English upon arriving to America, and had only the support of her family at the time. Despite this she managed to buy and keep her own house for nearly two decades, overcome debilitating addictions from her past, and raise two children on her own. Me, and my amazing brother Joel.

This unwavering spirit carried over to her sons.

I spent a majority of my time working to create a successful life for myself. I avoided many pleasures and temptations others around me enjoyed throughout my youth. Despite being surrounded by alcohol and tobacco (as well as other drugs) for many years, I have never once indulged in any of it, choosing instead to spend free time to consume my favorite media, such as animation, comics, but mostly video games. I even spent times toying with various programs from FL Studio, to RPG Maker. In 2012 I took a job at a local supermarket in order to ease financial strains on my mother, which lasted until about 2016.

I had never considered working in the arts in high school. To be honest, I considered engineering or finance as my future career. However near the end o my senior year, I realised that those paths were not the ones I desired. So, I chose art in a spur of the moment decision.

It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Now I have received my education from the University of Tampa in Digital Arts, and will most likely pursue an MFA from the University of Central Florida for Game Design.
